The year of 1300 marks the first register of Mioranza`s family. Living around Feltre, in Italy, the family’s main economic activity was growing grapes and making wine.
In 1700, part of the family moved to Valle del Mis, Sospirolo district in the province of Belluno, north of Italy.
In this valley, Mioranza`s family wine tradition grows and hits the markets from Feltre, Treviso, Venice, Belluno, Trento and Padova.
In the first half of the 19th century, vineyards of all Belluno`s alp region are hit by diseases and the wine production rapidly falls. Shocked with the crisis, Pietro Mioranza decided to move to America.
On November 14th 1883, Pietro embarks in Genova`s port heading to America.
On January 15th 1883, Pietro lands in Porto Alegre and heads to Caxias Colony, where he gets the plot number 13 in Travessão Alfredo Chaves. Pietro is one of the first man to get there and he names the land as “New Venice”.
In a little while, Pietro becomes the biggest wine producer of New Venice (Nova Veneza).
In 1972, Valdecir Mioranza, Pietro`s great-grandson, counting with six good friends of him founded Vinhos Monte Reale. In 1993, Valdecir took over the action control of Monte Reale. Since then, investments in technology have begun, with the goal of making high quality wine.
In the year of 1999, the family started the reform and reconstruction of Monte Reale´s facilities. At the same time, the Mioranza´s started looking to the wine world with other eyes, considering investments in synergy fields such as gastronomy and tourism. Then, Valdemiz fine wine brand was created in the year 2000.
